Dogs love cheddar, mozzarella, and cottage cheese. You should only give your dog cheese in moderation and make sure he doesn't have a lactose intolerance.
What kind of Cheese is Good for Dog Treats?
Low-fat cheeses are better for your dog, like mozzarella, cottage cheese, or goat cheese.
Cottage cheese is lower in fat and sodium than other cheeses, so it helps you lose weight.
Cottage cheese is low in lactose, so it's less likely to upset your stomach.
How to Make Homemade Cheesy Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 ¼ Cups Grated Colby Jack Cheese
- ½ Cup Vegetable Oil
- 4 tablespoon Water, As Needed
Supplies Needed:
- Mixer or KitchenAid Mixer
- Bowl
- Cute Doggie Cookie Cutter
- Rolling Pin
- Cookie Sheet
- Silpat or Parchment Paper
Directions:
Combine flour, cheese and oil.
- Knead well and add water as needed to form stiff dough.
- Roll out on floured surface to ½ inch thickness.
- Cut with Dog bone shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake at 400° Degrees Fahrenheit. For 15 minutes.
- Cool completely on wire rack.

I'm making the 2 ingredient cheesy dog treats. I just put them in the oven. Peekie (my 17 yr old Cairn) & Foxie (my 9 yr old Pomeranian), love chicken so I did use bone broth instead of water for moisture. It was soooo easy. Timer is set and both of them are sitting on the rug by the oven, just anxiously waiting. Lol. Thanks for such an easy recipe. Not sure if I can send you a pic of the beautiful, finished product.
