I’ve always felt guilty making myself some imitation peanut butter cups by using protein powder while my dogs sat there watching every drip of chocolate or peanut butter.
Because they are the best dogs ever, I decided they deserved their own mini imitation Peanut Butter cups!
These dog treats are a healthy treat similar to Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but without the chocolate.
This recipe replaces chocolate with carob, which is safe for dogs.

🍫 What are Carbo Chips for Dogs
The recipe is made using carob chips, which come from beans similar to cacao beans. However, unlike chocolate, carob does not contain theobromine, which can be toxic to dogs!
Carob is also low in fat and sodium, and high in fiber, potassium, and calcium, which makes it not only tasty, but completely healthy for your dogs.
The carob pod, which grows on a tree with the same name, resembles chocolate but has a much bitter taste (trust us, we've tasted it!).
If you can't find carob chips in your regular grocery store, make sure to check out your local organic store.

Creamy Peanut Butter - dogs love peanut butter! Always use dog safe peanut butter.
Carob Chips - carob chips are the equivalent to chocolate chips, just dog friendly!
Coconut Oil - coconut oil is safe and healthy for our dogs. Plus, it helps to set up these peanut butter cups so that they are hard.
📖 Directions
We begin by using a microwave-safe dish to heat the coconut oil and carob chips. Set it for 20 seconds at a time as it can burn it fast.
Line the pan with mini cupcake liners. Spoon the carob mix into the liners and press some with the back of the spoon to coat the sides as well as the bottom.
When coated place your silicone mat in the freezer for a few minutes to harden.
📋 Tips for Making Peanut Butter Cups for Dogs
I like to set my carob dish in a hot cup of water to keep the carob from cooling while I am working.
Reheat the carob mix if needed. Spoon the mix over the peanut butter making sure it is all sealed in. Pop back in the freezer for a few minutes to harden and then they are done!
