The delicious combination of beets and strawberries in this red velvet puppy cake recipe makes it dense, moist, and a rich red velvet color.
How to Use Beets In Dog Treat Recipes
Beets are a healthy source of folate, manganese, potassium and Vitamin C for dogs.
They are great for your dog's digestion, skin and coat. They are also a popular addition to making homemade dog food treats.
Easy to make - just wash, then slice, and bake at 425° degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.

How to Make Red Velvet Puppy Cakes
Ingredients:
- 1 Cup whole wheat flour
- ¼ cup strawberries
- 1 egg
- 1 cup roasted diced beets
- ¼ cup peanut butter
- ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ cup water
Frosting Ingredients:
- 4 oz fat-free cream cheese
- ¼ cup coconut oil, melted
Directions:
Roast your Beets First
- Preheat oven to 425° degrees Fahrenheit.
- Place parchment paper on a cookie sheet for roasting your beets. or spray with Pam to keep from sticking.
- Rinse your beets, then peel and slice.
- Place on cookie sheet and roast for 25 minutes.
- Once they are roasted set aside.
Making your Puppy Cake Mixture
- Once you're done roasting your beets, reduce oven temperature to 350° degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease muffin pan or use cute doggy liners.
- Place the strawberries into the food processor and grate.
- Add the diced beets and grate again.
- Add 1 egg and peanut butter and grate the mixture.
- Move the mixture into a mixing bowl.
- Add whole wheat flour and mix gently.
- Once mixed, add yogurt, water and baking soda. Stir until well mixed.
- Fill your muffin pan ½ full.
- Bake at 350° degrees Fahrenheit for 22 minutes.
How to Make your Dog Treat Frosting
- Melt ¼ cup coconut oil in microwave for about 1 minute.
- Mix with 4 oz. Cream cheese
- Spread on your puppy cake or pipe it on with a piping bag

- 1 egg

- ¼ cup peanut butter (Not sugar free)
- ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt (Not in the ingredient pictures)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda (Not in the ingredient pictures)
- ¼ cup water
Frosting for Dog Cupcake
- 4 oz fat-free cream cheese
- ¼ cup coconut oil, melted
